About Me

I am a South Yorkshire based Psychotherapist and Psychosexual therapist. I am a Registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and a registered member of COSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists).

After many years in the finance sector, I decided to create an opportunity to change my career and retrain as a Psychotherapist. I trained at The Sherwood Institute in Nottingham, gaining a Bsc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and recently gained an  MSc in Contemporary Psychosexual Therapy.

During my studies I worked at three charitable organisations and gained a vast range of experience working with adults and teenagers. I currently work with Glasgow Eating Disorders and several EAP providers.

I have extensive knowledge of working with individuals in secure units and custodial settings. This has enhanced my practice in supporting clients with complex trauma and addiction. Throughout my personal and professional life, I have encountered many positive and challenging life experiences. This has enabled great self-reflection and allowed me to identify change is possible. I have a particular interest in Eating Disorders (Anorexia, Bulimia and Obesity), Sign Language Therapy and Psychosexual Therapy.

My Philosophy

Life is a precious gift we often take for granted yet it holds value through a journey of discovery, experiences and perceptions about ourselves, others and the world we live in. It can be satisfying, yet at times, can be fraught with challenges.

As humans, we innately seek relational contact, a significant factor in the formation of self and the development of our self-esteem, yet we are multi-dimensional, unique and complex individuals, constantly adapting to an ever changing world, living our life in view of our ultimate meaning and value, shaped by our upbringing and life experiences. We aim to seek an understanding of our subjective realities in pursuit of our own relational needs and goals in life so we may flourish and grow. I believe we all have the potential to grow and self-actualise just as a caterpillar has the capacity to become a beautiful butterfly.

I believe therapy can help us unfold the complexities of our lives, enabling us to develop more self awareness of how we came to be the person we are today and how we are in relation to each other. My sessions offer a safe, relaxing and non judgemental environment built on trust and understanding where I aim to support you. Sessions can be challenging but can also be enlightening and fun.
